On Friday 5th May, Shaw Primary School TWHF, engrossed itself in celebrating the King's Coronation Shaw style!
Pupils arrived at the normal time dressed fantastically in red, white or blue. After engaging in some coronation class based activities, children assembled in the playground where Mr Brewer, the Headteacher, had drawn 2023 in huge numbers on the playground. Pupils gathered inside the large numbers and a kind parent, Mrs Williams launched his drone into the air.
Looking up at the drone, Shaw Pupils created a memorable photograph for the King.In the afternoon, pupils completed their coronation activities, which included making sceptres, crowns and other British related monarch activities and Mr Brewer judged a winner from each class. PAFOS, the Shaw friends of the school donated a £5 voucher for each winner. Pupils also received a special coronation bookmark from PAFOS to remember the day.
At 3pm Shaw opened it's gates early and parents and relatives flooded into the grounds to view the work created by the children. As a special treat, all pupils sang 'Our King' the special coronation song written for the King, expertly conducted by Mrs Burke, Interim Assistant Headteacher.
Parents had tears in their eyes as the children sang with passion and commitment. Finally, children, staff and parents enjoyed Coronation Ice Creams and Cakes together on the field before the bank holiday weekend.
